01 / Site Prep & Grading

Site prep and grading

Most of what goes wrong on a build traces back to what happened before the forms went up. We clear, cut, fill, and compact in lifts, then shoot the grade and prove it. The next trade shows up to a pad that's flat, dry, and where the plans say it should be.

On residential lots that usually means clearing, stripping topsoil, establishing the building pad, and rough-grading the yard so water leaves the house. On commercial and civil work it means mass excavation, structural fill, subgrade prep, and holding tolerance under paving.

  • Lot clearing, grubbing & brush removal
  • Topsoil strip, stockpile & respread
  • Cut & fill, mass excavation, balancing the site
  • Building pads, structural fill & compaction in lifts
  • Subgrade prep for concrete, asphalt & gravel
  • Rough & finish grading, slope & drainage away from structures
  • Import & export of material, quoted by the yard

02 / Underground Utilities

Underground utilities

Anything that has to go in the ground before the slab: water, sewer, storm and electrical conduit. We dig to grade, bed the pipe properly, keep the trench safe, and compact the backfill so you aren't chasing a settled trench line across a new driveway two years from now.

We work to plan and spec, coordinate with the inspector, and handle the locate calls ourselves. If your project ties into a municipal system, tell us which jurisdiction and we'll build the bid around their requirements.

  • Water mains & service laterals
  • Sanitary sewer, laterals & cleanouts
  • Storm drain, catch basins & manholes
  • Dry utility trench: electrical & conduit
  • Pipe bedding, sand & select backfill
  • Trench shoring, boxes & benching
  • Locates called on every job, no exceptions

03 / Septic & Drainage

Septic and drainage

Septic installs get done to your health district's spec. Tank set level, drain field on grade, proper rock and cover, inspection coordinated so you aren't sitting on an open hole waiting for someone to drive out.

Drainage is worth doing while the machine is already on site. French drains, curtain drains, swales and culverts cost a fraction of what a wet crawlspace or a washed-out driveway costs later.

  • Septic tank set & drain field installation
  • System repair, replacement & tank abandonment
  • Test pit excavation for soil evaluation
  • French drains, curtain drains & footing drains
  • Culvert install, driveway crossings & headwalls
  • Ditching, swales & surface water routing
  • Dry wells & stormwater retention

04 / Roads, Driveways & Gravel

Roads, driveways and gravel

A driveway is a road, and roads fail from the bottom up. We build subgrade first, fabric it when the ground is soft, then bring base up in lifts and compact it. Crown it so water sheets off, ditch it so water has somewhere to go, and it'll still be there after mud season.

Long rural driveways, steep access, equipment yards that have to carry loaded trucks. This is routine work for us, and it's where cutting corners shows up fastest.

  • New driveways, shared access & private roads
  • Road base, pit run, 3/4" minus & road mix
  • Geotextile fabric over soft subgrade
  • Crowning, ditching & culverts for runoff
  • Parking lots, equipment yards & laydown areas
  • Reclaim & regrade of washboarded existing roads
  • Approach permits coordinated where required

05 / Demolition & Haul-Off

Demolition and haul-off

Old barns, shops, houses, slabs, foundations and asphalt. We take structures down, separate what can be recycled, haul the rest to an approved facility, and backfill and level the footprint so you're looking at ground instead of a hazard.

Tell us up front if there's any chance of asbestos or a buried fuel tank. Those carry their own rules in Idaho, and we'd rather build them into the plan than find them with a bucket.

  • Barn, shop, outbuilding & house demolition
  • Concrete slab, foundation & asphalt removal
  • Buried tank removal & proper backfill
  • Fence line, corral & debris cleanup
  • Trucking, haul-off & disposal at approved sites
  • Material import: gravel, fill, topsoil & rock
  • Site restoration & final level

06 / Ponds, Basements & Earthwork

Ponds, basements and earthwork

Where a pond goes matters more than how it's dug. We look at location, inflow and what the soil does when it holds water before anyone starts, because a pond in the wrong spot is an expensive puddle.

Basements and foundations come down to depth and safe side slopes. Over-excavation where the plans call for it, and spoils moved somewhere useful instead of piled where the framer needs to park.

  • Stock ponds, irrigation ponds & retention basins
  • Basement & daylight basement excavation
  • Footing trenches & over-excavation
  • Shop, garage & outbuilding pads
  • Rock excavation, boulder removal & riprap
  • Spoil management, stockpiling & export
  • Erosion control & slope stabilization

07 / Concrete

Concrete

Flatwork and slabs on ground we prepped ourselves. Doing the dirt and the concrete with one contractor means nobody gets to blame the other when a slab cracks or a pad sits wrong.

Subgrade compacted and proved before anything gets formed. If the base isn't right we fix it first rather than pour over a problem.

  • Shop, garage & equipment slabs
  • Footings & stem walls
  • Driveways, aprons & flatwork
  • Sidewalks & equipment pads
  • Subgrade prep, compaction & form work
A note on permits. Pond construction, work in or near a waterway, and septic installation all carry their own permitting in Idaho, and some involve water rights. We'll flag what your project needs during the site walk and tell you plainly which approvals we handle and which stay with the owner. Nobody likes finding that out after the dig.
